Record a Medication

Record all medications that the patient is currently taking on the Active Medications list.  You have the option to document a prescriber from outside your practice, original prescription date, and sig information if necessary. 

You can also Document that a Patient is Taking No Medications.

Record a Medication

  1. Enter the name of the medication in the Drug Search field from the Med Entry tab.

    NOTE: Nurses and Admins must select the name of the prescriber they are currently working under from the Doctor Drop-Down at the top. This is required to record a medication. This prescriber will only be associated as the source of a recorded medication if the Outside Prescriber field is left blank.

  2. Enter the Outside Prescriber and Original Date of the prescription, if applicable.

    NOTE: If the outside prescriber name and original prescription date are unknown, leave these fields blank. The prescriber name will default to the logged in provider or the provider the nurse or admin is working under, and the date will default to the current date.

  3. Click the Drug Search button.
    • A complete sig is not required to record the medication.

  4. Click the Caret next to the Medication Name in the Search Results.
  5. Click the appropriate Drug Form.

  6. The medication displays in the Pending Rx section. From here, you can edit the Effective Date and prescription Source.
  7. Click the Edit button if you need to add Sig Information.

    NOTE: If you need to add Sig Information, Jump to: Record a Medication With Sig Information

  8. Click the Check Box next to the medication name.
  9. Click the Record button.

  10. The recorded medication displays in the Active Medications list.

    NOTE: You can also Print the Active Medications List.

Record a Medication With Sig Information

  1. From the Pending Rx list, Click the Edit button for the medication.

    NOTE: You can also edit sig information for Active Medications.

  2. Edit Sig Information, then click Record from the Queue Rx drop-down.
    • You have the option to enter a Start Date and a Stop Date. Medications entered with a stop date that occurred in the past will be added to the Previous Medications list. 
    • Click Queue Rx to keep the medication in pending status.
