From the Global Schedule Overrides Tab on the Medication Dispensing Admin Screen you can create Schedule Overrides, such as Holidays and emergency closures at specific facilities. When a Schedule Override is created, any Clinic visits previously scheduled to occur on the date of the Override are converted to a Take Home bottle. Holiday closures must be entered annually.
Scenario 1 (Medication Daily): For July 4, 2019 any patient scheduled to receive a daily dose of medication on July 4 at the Clinic will now receive a Clinic dose for July 3 and a Take Home bottle for July 4 both on July 3. The patient will then return on July 5 to continue their normal schedule.
Scenario 2 (Holidays – Medication Weekly): For this example, the patient schedule has them come in on Thursdays to receive a Clinic visit and then Take Home for the rest of the week. You schedule an Override for July 4 which falls on a Thursday. On August 27, the patient will not receive the usual 6 Take Home bottles but rather 13 Take Home bottles to cover from August 28 to July 10. The patient will return on July 11 to receive their usual Clinic does plus 6 Take Home bottles.
Scenario 3 (Emergency Closures – Medication Weekly): For this example, the patient schedule has them come in on Thursdays to receive a Clinic visit and then Take Home for the rest of the week. You schedule and Override on July 2 for July 4, which falls on a Thursday, after the patient has already received the Clinic visit and Take Home bottles on August 27. The appropriate agency personnel must call the patient to schedule a day for the patient to come in to the clinic to receive the Take Home bottles for July 4 to July 10. The patient will return on the July 11 to receive their usual Clinic dose plus 6 Take Home bottles.
