Once a patient’s order and schedule are written they can be dispensed medication in the Mediation Dispensing Screen. While it is not required for a patient to be checked-in, it is required that any medication holds be removed before a patient can be dispensed medication. If a patient is unavailable, they also cannot be dispensed to. Follow the steps below to dispense medication.
- Open the Medication Dispensing Screen by going to Day to Day 🡪 Fill Methadone Orders.
- Ensure Location is accurate and select the Window being dispensed from.
- Select the Medication and Dose Unit (Current Estimate and Remaining Inventory should populate).
- Select the Patient from the Patient List.
- Once their information appears, ensure there are no Medication Holds (cannot dispense if hold exists).
- NOTE: Check if the Patient is Checked-In if desired, being checked-in is not required to dispense.
- NOTE: If the patient has multiple doses (for the day or extended date range) hold the Ctrl key and select each additional dose to be dispensed. If the date range is extended, the doses will override to be Take Home even if the dose is scheduled to be Clinic.
- The dose will disappear from the table.
- Dispense Succeed will appear above the Dispense button.
- The patient will be highlighted green in the Patient List.
