Medication Dispensing - Medication Dispensing Screen (TenEleven)

To access the Medication Dispensing Screen go to Day to Day 🡪 Fill Methadone Orders.

1. Location – Select the medication dispensing Location.
2. Window – Select the window in which you are dispensing medication from (Assumes you already opened inventory for this window).

• NOTE: Selecting a Window locks the selected Window, preventing other Users from dispensing from the same window.
  

Medication Tracker – Select the medication to be dispensed (This will populate with the patient’s medication as specified on the Medication Order).

Dose Unit – Select the dose unit (Populates based on the patient’s Medication Order).

Current Estimate – Displays the Current Estimate of Medication (Methadone) required based on patients scheduled for today at my Facility.

Remaining Inventory – Amount of “unsealed” medication (remaining inventory) currently open for your Facility or Window.

Patients Unavailable – Click this button to identify those patients who did not show today for their medication.  This MUST BE COMPLETED DAILY.  The on-hold functionality will NOT work correctly and the Total Per Patient and Missed Doses reports will be inaccurate if this is not completed daily.

Import From Another Location – Button used to import patients from another location.

Show Completed Dispenses – Check to include patients that were scheduled for an appointment today and already received their medication.

Show Only Checked-In Patients – Check to only show patients that have been checked-in via the Medication Patient Check-In screen.

Search – Allows you to search for a patient.  Can use Name or MRN to search.

Patient List – These are all the patients scheduled to be at your location today to pick up medication.

• No Color = Patient is up to date on their medication. They did not miss their last appointment.
• Orange = Patient is at least one day late receiving their medication.
• Green = Patient was dispensed medication today. These patients will NOT appear in the list when you select the “Patients Unavailable” button.
• Pink = Patient is unavailable (Right-click on the patient and select Undo Unavailable to make the patient available).
• Yellow = Patient was dispensed only one part of a split dose order.

Dispensing Pump – Indicates that you are connected to a pump.  It also allows you to disconnect from the pump and continue to dispense manually in the event of a pump failure.  (Assumption is that you would continue to provide medication manually).

• Override – Check the Override box to select a different COM port or dispense without a pump.

Return All Bottles – Click the button to return any take home bottles the patient brought back.

• The button will be highlighted orange and a number will appear in parenthesis indicating how many take home bottles need to be returned.

Return Bottle Exception – If a patient is NOT returning all bottles as required, click the button to identify how many bottles a patient is returning a patient and the reason why.

• Returning Count- Enter the number of bottles the patient is returning.
• Reason for Returning Less- Enter the reason why the patient is not returning all required bottles.
• Clear checked out bottle count after return- Click to clear the bottle count even though the patient is returning less bottles than required.

Note – Ability to add a note for the patient (Only accessible via this Medication Dispensing Screen).

Breathalyzer / Toxicology – Ability to schedule and/or enter patient results from Breathalyzer / Toxicology results.

Adjust Dose – Ability to adjust a single dose. (If appropriate permission to do so).

Admin – Allows quick access to the “Medication Dispensing Admin Screen” from this window.  This will auto populate the admin screen with the patient information.

Discontinue – Allows the user the ability to quickly discontinue a patient’s Medication Order.  When selected, this will open the Patient Medication Order, allowing you the ability to complete and sign on the discontinue tab.

History – Allows you to adjust history date range to see previous dispense history for the selected patient.  This is also visible from the chart.

Med Hold – When orange with a number (IE. “Med Hold (1)”), this indicates there is currently a patient hold and you will NOT be able to dispense medication to this patient.  You may also add and/or **remove a hold here (** Must be in the same access level as the user who created the hold).

Checked-In – Indicates if the patient has been checked, click the button to see past check-in history.

• This tab will be highlighted in GREEN if the patient has been checked-in.
  

Dispense History stays open – Select to keep the Dispense History screen open when changing patients or flipping between screens.

Patient – Patient Name and a link to their chart.

Photo – Displays the patient’s photo.

MRN – Patient Medical Record Identifier from Patient Details.

SSN – Patient SSN from patient details.

Status – Last known Status from previous day (Patient’s Unavailable button).

Dispense Amount – Medication dispense amount in mg.

Treatment Instructions – Displays treatment instructions that was entered on the order.

Admin Instructions – Displays admin instructions that was entered on the order.

Medication – Displays the medication that will be dispensed to the patient.

Schedule – Displays patient’s current weekly medication schedule, including dosages (Day of week begins with current day of week).

Dispensing Amount Date Range – This defaults to the date range based on the patient’s current schedule.  With the appropriate credentials you can extend this date range to provide additional medication to the patient.  Additional (Future) dosages automatically become a take home bottle.

Remove Row – Allows the ability to remove a row in the below dispensing grid/table. (If you have the appropriate rights to do so).

Add – Allows the use to add an additional row in the below dispensing grid/table to dispense medication to this patient.  (If you have the appropriate rights to do so).

Refresh Row – If you have changed the date range, you may have to select this refresh button to return more info.

Dispense – When selected will dispense medication as per the row selected in the below dispensing grid/table.  NOTE: You can select multiple rows and dispense at once.  There is a pause between each dispense where eCR waits for you to select “OK” to continue.

Dispenses Table – Grid / Table that lists what medication the patient is to receive for each DAY selected in the date range* based on their current schedule. (*The ability to alter the date and/or type of dispense can be disabled based on user access rights).
